UPCOMING CERT TRAINING
Frankfort / Franklin Co. Office of Emergency Management will
be offering CERT
training to those interested in becoming members of
the local Community Emergency Response Team The
course is 20 hours and is conducted in 5 sessions (4
HRS. each). There is NO CHARGE for this training.
Class dates are:
Tues, Sept 7th - 6-10pm Thurs, Sept 9th - 6-10pm Tues,
Sept 14th - 6-10pm Thurs, Sept 16th - 6-10pm Tues,
Sept 21st - 6-10pm You must attend all classes to
complete the course
Topics covered include:Incident Command
Structure Intro to Disasters & Pandemics Building a
Disaster Kit Terrorism Awareness Fire Extinguisher Use
Basic First Aid / Disaster Medicine CPR / AED Urban
Survival Techniques Emergency Communications Search &
Rescue EOC Operations Medical Reserve Corp
After successful completion of the CERT program students
will be members of the Frankfort / Franklin Co.

SWINE FLU (H1N1) Information
According to the Center of Disease Control, like seasonal flu,
symptoms of swine flu infections can include:
- fever, which is usually high
- cough
- runny nose or stuffy nose
- sore throat
- body aches
- headache
- chills
- fatigue or tiredness, which can be extreme
- diarrhea and vomiting (sometimes)

Initial H1N1 Vaccine Target Groups
Are: When H1N1 vaccine is
first available, the CDC recommends that people in the
following five target groups (in no certain order) should be a
priority:
Who Should Not Be Vaccinated:
There are some people who should not get any
flu vaccine without first consulting a physician. These include:
- People who have a severe allergy to chicken
eggs.
- People who have had a severe reaction to an
influenza vaccination.
- People who developed
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of getting an
influenza vaccine previously. (For information, see
General Questions and Answers on Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS).
- Children younger than 6
months of age (influenza vaccine is not approved for this age
group), and
- People who have a
moderate-to-severe illness with a fever (they should wait until
they recover to get vaccinated.)
